The United States and United Kingdom share some generational tendencies, but are also unique to their own customs.

The United States definitely falls into the category of media fandom. Because of our development in technology, fans use blogs and fan sites to communicate and create pieces of fan fiction. Doctor Who has allowed individuals in the United States to express themselves through diversity and relate it to other science fiction programs. Because of the generation that is knowledgeable about technology advancements, bloggers and fans tend to be younger adults and teens. “... scholars began concentrating on the increasing number of fans, known as media fans, who had become solely devoted to the aspects of the genre related to film, television, and comics. Media fans are often the stereotypical image most people have of a traditional science fiction fan today” (Gooch, n.d.). When referring to media fans, typically authors speak about younger generations.
